Why did you decide to make changes in your lifestyle/diet?
When I was in college, I developed bad eating habits. I went through my college career with no exercise. When I went to the doctor for my physical, I was overweight and had high blood pressure. I was put on medicine for my high blood pressure. I knew at that moment, I needed to make a change.
What tips and tricks have you learned on your journey?
I love food, a lot of the food I like is part of my culture. I had to learn that the food that is part of my culture, can’t be on my personal menu every day. I had to add healthier options to my diet, as well as exercise. I find that I enjoy my new eating habits and daily exercise.
What experiences at Lifestyle Medical Center did you find most useful?
I remember when I first arrived at Lifestyle, I was worried that I was going to be put on a carrot and celery diet. In the first conversation I had with the dietitian, she told me it would be the opposite.
Please share any other comments or what has inspired you to make such lifestyle changes.
I started this journey right after Christmas 2018. About 8 months later, I was off my blood pressure medication and down over 70lbs.
